  • Deer Valley Is About To Triple In Size

    August 25, 2023 2 min read

Deer Valley, one of Utah's most renowned ski resorts, has recently announced a major development that will significantly expand its size. The new development, known as Mayflower, is currently underway in the mountains above Jordan L Reservoir and will become a part of Deer Valley. This expansion will not only provide easier access to more places to stay but also enhance the overall skiing experience. However, it's important to note that this luxury resort will still require a substantial investment, and skiing will be the preferred mode of transportation, as snowboarding is not allowed.

If you've ever driven down the road to Heber, you may have already noticed the ski runs and snowmaking infrastructure in place. Over the next two years, you can expect to see a lot of lift infrastructure appearing on the hill, further enhancing the skiing opportunities in the area. While the development above Jordan L Reservoir was previously separate from Deer Valley, today's announcement means that Utah's famously fancy ski destination will soon be more than twice as big and easier to access. The expansion of Deer Valley will offer the same luxurious experience that guests have come to expect, but on a broader scale.

According to the announcement, the village being built at the base of the expanded terrain will feature 1,200 skier parking spaces, making it convenient for visitors to access the resort. In fact, it will be possible to travel from the airport to Deer Valley without hitting a single stoplight, making it the best and easiest access from a major international airport in the world.

It's important to note that despite the expansion, Utah's giant destination resorts on the Wasatch Back will still be owned by Colorado companies. Alterra, based in Denver, will operate the much larger Deer Valley along with Solitude. Additionally, Park City combined with Canyons is owned by Vail, also from Colorado.

This development is exciting news for skiing enthusiasts and those looking for a luxurious winter getaway. With the expansion of Deer Valley, there will be even more opportunities to enjoy world-class skiing in Utah's beautiful mountains. Whether you're a seasoned skier or new to the sport, Deer Valley's reputation for exceptional service and pristine slopes will continue to make it a top choice for winter vacations.

So, if you're planning your next ski trip, keep an eye out for the completion of the Mayflower development at Deer Valley. With its expanded size and improved accessibility, it's sure to offer an unforgettable skiing experience.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development and other ski-related news. Happy skiing!
